Transportation and a sack lunch are provided.
Participants should bring a daypack containing 1-2 liters of water, appropriate footwear for hiking, wind and rain jackets, warm hat, layers of clothing, additional snacks, camera, and sun protection as well as a walking stick or trekking poles.
Participants must be able to hike uphill at altitude without difficulty, and be comfortable with round trip distance of 7-10 miles.
Join in on a local, full-day hike to the summit of South Baldy (12,380’) and Middle Baldy (12,598’) Mountains in the West Elk Wilderness. This adventure starts out from Rainbow Lake and allows the group to experience views into the West Elk Wilderness to the north. The group summits both peaks dependent on weather and interests. The hike includes an elevation gain of 1000-1500’, includes off trail travel and is considered strenuous.
